Terms of service
The agreement between you and the Shifted team, in plain language.
- Shifted is in private beta. It's for adults who track youth hockey: parents, guardians, coaches and team staff.
- You own what you enter. We need permission to store and show it so the app works.
- Only add athletes you're responsible for, and treat other families' information with care.
- Beta is free. Nothing will be charged without clear notice and your consent.
- The service is provided as it is, and we'll keep improving it.
1. What Shifted is
Shifted is a shift-tracking and scorekeeping app for youth hockey, plus the website at shiftedsports.com. These terms are an agreement between you and the Shifted team. By creating an account or using the app or site, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use Shifted.
2. Beta status
Shifted is in private beta. Features will change, some will be rough, and occasionally something will break. We'll give notice before any change that affects your data, and we'll never wipe your games without warning. Feedback is welcome and genuinely shapes what we build next.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. Accounts are for adults; children don't create accounts on Shifted. You're responsible for everything done with your account, so keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
4. Athletes and other people's information
When you add an athlete, you confirm that you're their parent or legal guardian, or team staff authorized to manage that athlete's information for the team. Enter only what the app asks for, and keep it minimal. When you record opponents or scan another team's roster, use that information only for keeping score and tracking games. Don't enter information about people you have no right to enter.
5. Your content
Everything you enter, from athlete names to the actions you tap, belongs to you. To run Shifted we need your permission to store it, process it, sync it between your devices, and show it to the people you choose to share it with. You give us that permission for as long as you use the service, and it ends when your data is deleted. We don't claim ownership of your content and we don't sell it.
6. Acceptable use
- Don't use Shifted to harass, threaten or embarrass anyone, including players and officials.
- Don't impersonate another person or team, or share links you were not given.
- Don't try to access other accounts, probe or overload our systems, or copy the service.
- Don't use Shifted for anything unlawful.
7. Shifted's property
The app, the website, the designs, the names and logos, and the code are ours or licensed to us. You may use them only to use Shifted as intended. Sport statistics themselves aren't anyone's property; what you record is yours.
8. Pricing
Shifted is free during the beta, and no payment method is collected. The plans shown on the website are the pricing we're testing; they may change before launch, and early adopters keep the pricing they signed up under. If paid plans arrive, we'll tell you clearly, ask for your consent before any charge, and follow the refund rules of the store you purchased through.
9. Changes and availability
We may add, change or remove features, and we may pause the service for maintenance. We aim for reliability but we don't promise the service will always be available. If we ever decide to shut Shifted down, we'll give you notice and a way to get your data.
10. Ending things
You can stop using Shifted at any time and ask us to delete your account on the support page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, harms other users, or puts the service at risk. Where we can, we'll tell you why.
11. No warranties
Shifted is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. The statistics it produces are only as good as the taps that went into them, and they're not a substitute for a coach's judgment, medical advice, or an official scoresheet.
12. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Shifted team isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which during the beta is zero. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you agree to their jurisdiction. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Shifted grows. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll tell you in the app or by email. Using Shifted after a change means you accept the new terms.
15. Contact
Questions about these terms go through the support page.
